-My name is Rebecca Droupy. I am honored to be ask to be a part of such a much needed cause. My heartbeat has been for the battered & abused women many years. Thirty years ago, I myself was a victim for 20 yrs being in an abusive marriage. I want to get the women off the street that think they don’t matter BUT they do matter. They are God’s daughters and need a chance. I want to share the love of God with the down & out, and the hurting women. I can truly relate. I can truly testify God is still working miracles daily for “Such a time as this”. We all our not here by accident but have an assignment from God to fulfill this vision.
-My name is Lynda Brown McKee and I am 68 years old. I have been married to a wonderful man, Bruce, for 48 years. We have two children, Michelle and Travis, and six “perfect” grandchildren. I am a retired speech-language pathologist and teacher of the hearing impaired. I am an elder in the Presbyterian Church and have been active in missions for many years. It is my dream that all people, but especially women and children, experience safety and justice in an inclusive and caring community of believers.
- Ken Morrow moved to Gonzales from Austin, Texas
over 14 years ago. In Austin, he studied
Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin and progressed to
work in the fast-paced, high tech community for 6 years before choosing to move
to the quiet, relaxed, rural community of Gonzales.
In 2005, Ken moved away
from the high-tech arena to try his hand at construction. Alliant Homes began as a remodeling company,
but it quickly emerged into the custom home builder and commercial property
management firm it is today. Ken is
passionate about construction and helping his clients get the most “bang” for
their buck. Alliant Homes celebrated its
11th anniversary this June and Ken hopes that he will continue to
provide quality craftsmanship at an affordable price for many years to come.
In his free time, Ken
is the husband of Carolyn and father to Sam, Abby, Ellie and Kate. Ken and Carolyn marked their 19th
wedding anniversary this year and also sent his first child off to
college. Ken is a Born-again Believer in
Jesus and is currently a member of Faith Family Church in Gonzales where he
serves the Lord as an Usher, on the Building Team and with church maintenance.
Ken has served on the
Tourism Committee, now called the Convention and Visitors Bureau for over five
years and helps manage a marketing budget of $200,000 annually as Vice Chairman. Ken is also the Former Director of Grace
Christian Academy in Gonzales and was involved in building the school from the
inception with leaders from Memorial Heights Baptist Church.
-Sherry Poe has had myriad career changes in her life, beginning with cosmotology, then teaching, followed by counseling special education students in the public school as well as having a professional counseling practice. After retirement from the public school, she was led by the Holy Spirit to begin a women’s organization called Christian Women’s Job Corps of Gonzales County which teaches job/life skills through a volunteer army of Christ loving women. During this time, Sherry felt the 11 week day program did not go far enough to restore lives, so she began to garner support for a Christ centered “wholeway” house for women in Gonzales, Texas. When away from the ministry work, Sherry loves to spend time with her husband, Kenneth, and family, especially those five grandchildren.
-Debra Wallace is an Independent Sales Director in a direct sales company. She is also the Women’s Ministry Leader at her Church as well as a Christian Motivational Speaker. Debra inspires women through God’s word and her testimony to be set free and healed from emotional/physical trauma so that they can become all that God created them to be!
